In district of kurulu and
asolagaima,Wamena city,those are mummies. No mummy found on museum but the
family keep the mummy in the honai,honai is traditional house of papua.

The mummy is more than 200 years
old,the mummy was general of war,chairman of tribe or spiritual figure and they
asked to become mummy before their dead. The position of mummy is sitting down
with head to above and opened mouth. People believe if keep the mummy in house will bring fortune and prosperity to the village.

The process of mummification is fresh dead body will
dry by sun heat,and kept in the cave. All is done by family member only. Next
they will lean dead body above the fire and will stab to discard remain fat.
The result mummy will shrunk with black skin
